HEAVY REVIEW: Bring Me The Horizon’s New Album “amo”
– Dez
Since Count your Blessings in 2006, Bring Me the Horizon has certainly grown as a band exploring different approaches to music. So, it is no surprise that when “amo” dropped today, people would have differing opinions of it.
All bullshit, aside, this album is pretty well produced. With guest artists Grimes, Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth vocalist), and Rahzel (former Roots member) jumping in, Bring me the Horizon explores their poppy side combining EDM and hip-hop influences to their already fine-tuned metalcore sound.
We got up-close and personal with this album and we came up with our HEAVY approved playlist of “Amo” below. Crank these jams in your car for best results.
MANTRA: The dirty riffs from the opening of this track really lock you into the groove of this song as you get lulled into the dreamlike interlude before that first hook hits.
wonderful life: Oli Sykes and Cradle of Filth’s Dani Filth team up for this one bringing life to a more metal track. The hook “getting high on a Saturday night” doesn’t hurt either.
sugar honey ice & tea: Although this one starts out synth heavy at first, wait it out and ride the wave. It will grow on you.
why you gotta kick me when i’m down? : Surprisingly enough, this hip-hop influenced track hearkens back to a more G-Eazy sound but executed more organically. The child-choir addition gives it a eerie feel.
heavy metal: Rahzel brings his flow to the arguably most heavy track on the album with Oli shedding light on that “kid on the ‘gram.” @Dez
