Bring Me the Horizon Drop A HEAVY New Song ‘Ludens’

Bring Me the Horizon are dropping some new music on you. The band has just unleashed their new song “Ludens,” which is tied to upcoming “Death Stranding” video game for PlayStation4.

The new song starts with a swinging, poppy beat accentuated by aggressive synths, as singer Oli Sykes offers, “Do you know why the flowers never bloom? / Will you retry or let the pain resume? / I need a new leader, we need a new luden.” While it does lean poppy in certain moments, this is Bring Me the Horizon and there are some full on aggressive moments in the track as well. Check out the full lyrics for the song below and the lyric video at the bottom of this post.

Some refuse the future, some refuse the past
Either way, it’s best off if we can’t unplug the fact
With a world covered in cables, it was never wired to last
So don’t act so surprised when the program starts to crash

How do I form a connection when we can’t even shake hands?
You’re like the phantom bleeding me
You’re part of the shadows, hang out in the gallows
Stuck in a loop for eternity

Do you know why the flowers never bloom?
Will you retry or let the pain resume?
I need a new leader, we need a new luden
(A new luden, new luden, yeah)
So come outside, it’s time to see the tide
It’s out of sight but never out of mind
I need a new leader, we need a new luden

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but soon the sting will pass
But names can dig so many graves you won’t know where to stand
And I don’t feel secure no more unless I’m being followed
And the only way to hide myself is to get out of my shell

How do I form a connection when we can’t even shake hands?
You’re like the phantom bleeding me
You’re part of the shadows, hang out in the gallows
Stuck in a loop for eternity

Do you know why the flowers never bloom?
Will you retry or let the pain resume?
I need a new leader, we need a new luden
(A new luden, new luden, yeah)
So come outside, it’s time to see the tide
It’s out of sight but never out of mind
I need a new leader, we need a new luden
(A new luden, new luden, yeah)

A new luden, new luden, yeah
A new luden, new luden, yeah
A new luden, new luden, yeah
Yeah

Alright, you close the connection
You close the connection
You close the connection
You close the connection
Oh, give me a break
Oh, give me a break
Oh, give me a break
Ugh, oh

Do you know why the flowers never bloom?
Will you retry or let the pain resume?
I need a new leader, we need a new luden
(A new luden, new luden, yeah)
So come outside, it’s time to see the tide
It’s out of sight but never out of mind
I need a new leader, we need a new luden
(A new luden, new luden, yeah)

A new luden, new luden, yeah
A new luden, new luden, yeah
A new luden, new luden, yeah
A new luden, new luden, yeah

Do you know why the flowers never bloom?
Will you retry or let the pain resume?
I need a new leader, we need a new luden

Speaking to NME about the creation of the track, Oli Sykes revealed, “I found myself reading about this 16-year-old kid inventing a micro-organism to save the ocean. It made me realize that we can do anything if we put our minds to it. Even with all the damage and destruction, things can heal if we let them.”

He added, “It uses quotes from the game and stuff, but I’m talking about the bigger picture. We need to be our own heroes. We need a new way of looking at things. Greta Thunberg has shown us that – it’s crazy, but this kid has proven that we can be our own leaders. We don’t need to wait for these other people. It goes through the motions of what’s wrong with the world and what we can do to fix it.”

As stated, the song is part of the soundtrack for the new PlayStation 4 game “Death Stranding,” which arrives on Nov. 8. You can pre-order the game here or the soundtrack at this location.
