SEE JASON MOMOA IN ANTI-PLASTIC BOTTLES PSA
The past few months, climate scientists have been warning us that, well, humanity is pretty fucked when 2050 rolls around if we don’t get our environmental habits in order quick. One warrior for change is none other than actor Jason Momoa, star of Game of Thrones and, of course, Aquaman. He recently appeared in a PSA urging people to stop using single-use plastic water bottles, and it’s pretty fucking hilarious. Even better, Momoa rocks a Pantera shirt in the video, which shows him approaching some chump casually drinking a water bottle outside a convenience store — and slapping the bottle right out of his hand.
“Doesn’t matter how you hydrate, as long as you do it without using single-use plastics,” Momoa says. He then loops back around, slaps another bottle out of another dude’s hand, and a fight ensues offscreen. The clip then cuts to Momoa chilling in a bathtub with a wine glass full of ice, and a big bruise on his eye. “There’s so many sustainable alternatives you can reach for,” he says, pouring water from a pink canteen into the glass. “For the ocean, the planet and the future generations that depend on it.” The guy he fought earlier is next to him, also chilling, and they toast as the video ends.
Tickets start at just $30!The game is afoot. “Mysterious Circumstances” begins June 11.
Beyond the encouraging message of environmentalism, it’s cool to see Momoa’s metalhead-side come out in this fun clip. In the past, Jason Momoa has mentioned how Tool, Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All and more has inspired his acting. “Aquaman’s pretty metal. I know no one thinks that, but Aquaman’s metal. I kind of build my characters off of metal songs,” he said. “I’d say Aquaman was probably mostly built out of Tool and ‘Kill ‘Em All.’ [Tool song] ‘Ticks and Leeches,’ if I want to get specific. There’s a lot of Sabbath in there, too.”
